Workshop - Foundation Paper Piecing

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of paper piecing step by step and sew a modern paper piecing square, which you will then sew onto a fabric bag or sweater as a patch. The aim is to gain a firm grasp of the technique and take home a unique, wearable item. Paper piecing involves sewing onto a printed paper pattern. The lines on the paper indicate exactly where to sew - creating clean edges, exact shapes and modern designs, even with more complex motifs. The paper stabilizes the fabric and takes away a lot of uncertainty - ideal for beginners.

In the workshop you will learn

• what paper piecing is
• how to work with paper patterns, numbering and fabric sequencing
• correct cutting, sewing and ironing for foundation paper piecing
• helpful tips for stress-free sewing and beautiful results
• how to sew on your finished paper piecing square as a patch

Materials:

• Paper piecing templates & fabrics are provided
• Your own sweater or fabric bag if necessary (a limited number of fabric bags can be used for a small contribution towards expenses)
