WORKSHOPS AND HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES The JXB Festival invites you to participate, discover, and try new things. A wide variety of workshops and open activities create space for creativity, movement, social interaction, and lots of fun. Here, children and teens can get active, gain new experiences, and share unforgettable festival moments together. Through experimentation, creativity, and shared experiences, a space emerges where connection, curiosity, and joy take center stage. Everyone is invited to stop by, join in, and discover the festival in their own way. 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Hands-On Activities in the courtyard & at the Alte Feuerwache 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. WORKSHOPS for children and teens ages 6 and up: 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Creative Writing (8 – 11) Old newspaper clippings, words, and text fragments are transformed into new stories, poems, and surprising text collages. Here, we’ll be cutting, pasting, and experimenting with language—there are no limits to your imagination. Duration: 90 minutes Led by: Paula Franke 1:45 – 2:45 p.m. Impro I (ages 6–10) Together, we’ll try out different theater and improvisation games, slip into new roles, and let our imaginations run wild. In this workshop, we’ll explore together how body language, voice, and presence work—and how we can learn to trust them. Through theater exercises and games, we’ll discover how to present ourselves with more confidence, assert our boundaries, and stand up for one another. For anyone who wants to be braver, louder, and more self-assured. Duration: 120 minutes Led by: Theodora Brad 2:15–4:15 p.m. Neckar Breaks (12–14) Using elements from choreography and breaking, we’ll explore public space. We’ll start with a warm-up to prepare our bodies and come together as a group. Then we’ll head out to the Neckar promenade, where we’ll develop movement sequences together. We’ll learn how to playfully engage with our surroundings using cool moves and use that to create our own choreography. Duration: 90 minutes Instructor: Jonas Frey 2:30–3:30 p.m. Diabolo & Co. – Try Your Hand at the Circus (6+) Would you like to get a taste of the circus? Then you’ve come to the right place! Try out exciting circus props like the diabolo and juggling balls, and learn your first cool tricks. No prior experience is needed—the workshop is for anyone who wants to try something new. Together, we’ll play, practice, and discover what’s possible. Come on by and become a circus star for an hour! Duration: 60 minutes Instructor: Melanie Schmidt 3:00 – 3:45 p.m. Cooking Class II – Vegan Spring Rolls (8+) Together, we’ll chop, roll, and taste delicious vegan spring rolls.
