Mystical, gentle and powerful at the same time - Mari Boine's singing exudes a magic all of its own. She sees herself not only as a singer, but also as an activist who fights for women's rights and Sámi culture. Since the 1990s, she has been regarded as a strong Norwegian voice in world music. Musically, she fuses the traditional Jiok singing of the Sámi with jazz, folk and rock - creating her own individual sound. In her new program Alva, Mari Boine celebrates the cultural heritage of her people and the wisdom of her ancestors.
