Wortklub: Lara Rüter & Volker Gerling: Von Affen und Menschen

Volker Gerling has been on the road for over twenty years—as a flipbook artist… as what? He travels around showing flipbooks—sequences of images he creates during his travels. [nbsp]Short, jerky sequences of photos that uniquely capture moments of encounter with people. A flipbook artist—that’s nothing less than a unique art form. 
The multi-award-winning author Lara Rüter had intense encounters with monkeys during her work at the Leipzig Primate Research Institute. This led to the book *Affenliebe* (Love of Monkeys), which recounts moments with great apes and the question that arises: what does it feel like to be human? A text that takes the liberty of presenting scientific questions, poetry, and autobiography between two book covers.

Host Thomas Koch looks forward to a wonderful evening. Musical accompaniment will be provided by the wonderful Cologne-based trio LUAH, who were awarded the German Jazz Prize for their vocals.
