A wealthy man allows himself to be glorified in an illuminated book, but the work reveals an uncomfortable truth. His wife Agnès feels understood by the painter and desires him. When their love is discovered, the husband kills his rival - and forces Agnès to eat her lover's heart.

With "Written on Skin", George Benjamin and Martin Crimp created one of the most successful operas of the 21st century. The work is based on a medieval legend and combines archaic brutality with crystal-clear modern language. Three angels act as narrators and guide the audience through a gripping "play within a play" between past and present.

Pupils and students receive tickets in advance with a 50% discount. They can also obtain unsold remaining tickets at €15 per ticket for all seats at the Box Office shortly before the performance begins, provided there is no other demand. Trainees, the unemployed, Frankfurt Pass holders and participants in the Federal Volunteer Service also receive tickets at a 50% discount - also in advance.
