Wütbürger.exe - Lesung mit Hannes Kreschel

The evening will focus on Kreschel's latest book "Wutbürger.exe - Ein Report aus der "Rage-Republik", which deals with increasing social anger, radicalization and alienation in Germany.

Born in Saxony-Anhalt in 2003, the journalist has been traveling through Germany for several years, talking to people who feel disappointed or excluded by politics, the media and social developments. He regularly publishes his conversations on social media and has now included them in his book.

Kreschel combines journalistic reportage, personal reflection and social analysis. He gives a particularly impressive account of how political polarization and conspiracy narratives have an impact on families - including his own. The aim of his book is not to make hasty judgements, but to understand why people become radicalized and whether social dialogue is still possible.

The evening will be hosted by Bettina van Suntum. The Leipzig-based lawyer, presenter and SPD politician has been socially and politically active for many years in areas such as climate protection, social justice and democratic dialog. She works professionally in the field of energy transition and has extensive experience in administration, business and public debate moderation.

The reading will be followed by a panel discussion with guests and the audience. The aim is to discuss how social cohesion can succeed and what role dialogue plays in polarized times.
