Yellowjackets

In their eventful 43-year history, the Yellowjackets have recorded 25 albums, received 17 Grammy® nominations - two of which they won - completed countless sold-out tours and are highly regarded by critics and audiences alike.

The Yellowjackets formed in the late 1970s as the backing band for guitarist Robben Ford. They recorded their first album together in 1980. Shortly after this recording, however, Ford decided to go his own way. As a result, the modern Yellowjackets formed - a trio consisting of Russell Ferrante, Jimmy Haslip and Ricky Lawson. Since then, and with the addition of Bob Mintzer, the Yellowjackets have gained and maintained prominence. Considered one of the most influential and popular groups in jazz, the band has undergone numerous line-up changes over the years. However, they have never failed and have been able to continuously develop their music with new band members. Russell Ferrante, William Kennedy and Bob Mintzer have maintained an exceptionally high quality of musicianship for which the Yellowjackets are renowned, and the latest addition to the band is Australian bassist Dane Alderson. With his exceptional sense of rhythm and natural predisposition to groove, Dane brings a new energy to the band and gives the music a youthful approach. In the JazzHall, the Yellowjackets can now be experienced up close and in ideal conditions.
