ZEITEN VERBINDEN: EIN KONZERT FÜR UND MIT WOLF BIERMANN

This will not be a "normal" Wolf Biermann concert! It will be different, colorful and surprisingly unusual! But let's start from the beginning: On November 15, the cover album "Wolf Biermann RE:IMAGINED - Lieder für jetzt!" will be released with a total of 22 artists reinterpreting Biermann songs. A total of 15 of these cover acts will celebrate Biermann's work at the release concert on November 13 and give a first taste of how his songs will be performed individually and on a grand scale.

Wolf Biermann has always been vocal in his criticism of the prevailing conditions. He now finds support in a young generation that is artistically influenced by the Hamburg-born singer-songwriter's tone. Biermann went to the GDR as a young man in 1953 to build what he believed would be a fairer society. But when he refused to conform politically and refused to be censored, he was declared an enemy of the state and eventually brutally thrown out of the country.

Biermann's relevance can be seen not least in the major retrospective at the Deutsches Historisches Museum, which showed how Biermann has always been a seismograph of his turbulent homeland Germany since his first artistic successes in the 1960s.

Clouds Hill aims to open up Biermann's work, his music and lyrics, which are just as pertinent, explosive and true today as ever, to a young audience.

The cover album uses Biermann's work to build a bridge to the present day. In a Europe torn apart by war. And in a Germany where the political climate is becoming increasingly tense, this intelligent and critical voice is needed. The cover album, in keeping with Biermann's poetic program, is not a retrospective, but a projection into the future. Music as encouragement!

The brilliant and confident interpretations by some of today's most exciting artists show how versatile and important Wolf Biermann's work is. On this evening, the artists will celebrate with Wolf Biermann and go a step further together.

Performing at Hamburg's Thalia Theater on 13.11.2024 will be: Torch, Albrecht Schrader & Charlotte Brandi, Moritz Krämer, Bonaparte, Das Bierbeben, Mola, Jan Plewka, Peter Licht, Lina Maly, Betterov, Van Holzen, Romano, Katharina Franck & Paul Eisenach and Haiyti and the legendary jazz duo Ulrich Gumpert & Günter Baby Sommer. And of course Wolf Biermann. The evening will be hosted by Linda Zervakis.

The evening is presented by DIFFUS Magazin, GALORE and the Hamburger Morgenpost.

Tickets are now available at all known ticket outlets from €49.95 plus fees. Tickets are also available in a discounted bundle with the LP of the upcoming cover album.
