ZEITGEISTER

ZEITGEISTER is a 60-minute essay film by Angela Zumpe with photographs by Jan Sobottka. Zumpe and Sobottka interview former fellow students of the UdK, then HdK about their artistic self-image back in the 70s and today. Former professors Hajo Diehl and Wolfgang Petrick, the "Critical Berlin Realists," comment on the time when they were appointed as professors. The film builds a bridge to the young students. What are the issues today? Do they enter their studies with the same prerequisites as the students of the past? Are they better prepared for being artists? Are their dreams different?

Following the film, a panel discussion with the director Angela Zumpe, Jan Sobottka and the protagonists of the film.
