Zu:Flucht - Benefizkonzert mit Werken von Nana Forte, J. S. Bach, Caroline Shaw, Wolfram Buchenberg u. a.

In July 2026, the CONSTANT chamber choir will be tackling a very special topic that is as old as humanity itself and yet concerns every generation anew. With the benefit concert "Zu:Flucht" , we are exploring the human experience of departure, loss, security, refuge, home and protection. The majority of the works to be heard were created in the past 10 to 15 years under the impression of flight events and individual flight biographies. Dilara Yüksek, Poetry Slam State Champion NRW 2024, will accompany CONSTANT on this evening with spoken word and her thoughts on the topic of Zu:Flucht.

Our benefit concert in aid of the Cologne Volunteer Agency and Medica Mondiale will become a cultural evening that is more than "just" a concert with the exhibition "Faces of Peace" by Pro Peace.

Alongside contemporary works by Wolfram Buchenberg, Ysaÿe Maria Barnwell, Nana Forte, Alex Berko and Caroline Shaw, the works of Josquin Desprez and Johann Sebastian Bach show that the topic of "flight" is much older than current debates suggest. They all pose the big question of places of refuge where they can find the strength and confidence to overcome difficult times and situations - and offer a variety of musical answers.
