Most Germans who supported the Nazi regime between adaptation and enthusiasm never spoke about this time again after 1945. In almost all German families, the subject was taboo: the unspoken. Using a psychological approach, the film lets these people have their say: What they thought and felt at the time, and how they judge their participation in the Nazi regime today. At the same time, Jewish survivors tell their stories: Their testimonies shed light on the blind spots in the collective unconscious of the majority German society of the time that remain to this day.
The combination of completely different life stories opens up unexpected, shocking insights into the German mindset; due to the advanced age of the protagonists - some of them from Speyer and Weinheim - possibly the last document of its kind.
