How do seriously ill people face death? And how can they be helped to give their remaining time as much quality of life as possible? For several months, Philipp Döring follows everyday life in the palliative care unit of the Franziskus Hospital in Berlin: he observes doctors on their rounds and in conversations with relatives, and takes part in the team's internal discussions, in which grievances are not concealed. In this way, the film comes close to dying, and therefore also to life. In the words of Cicely Saunders, the founder of the hospice movement: "It's not about giving life more days, it's about giving days more life."
The film has won several awards, including the Heiner Carow Prize at the Berlinale and the 3sat Documentary Film Prize.
