A quick click and the order is on its way. Delivery services have become an integral part of the cityscape. Drivers from food delivery services are out and about in the city in all weathers, bringing groceries and meals directly to people's front doors. However, this convenience comes at a price and, on closer inspection, it becomes clear that it is often the so-called riders who pay for it with precarious working conditions. Behind the scenes, there are inconsistencies: withheld wages, unclear responsibilities, high work pressure and subcontractors that are difficult to track down. These conditions shed light on the working conditions and business practices that the platform economy has created.

The Hamburg-Elmshorn region of the Food, Beverages and Catering Union (NGG) and the Northern Regional Office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) cordially invite you to find out more about the working conditions of (former) riders in a personal discussion this evening. In the subsequent discussion with Mark Baumeister (Head of the Hospitality Industry Department, NGG, Hamburg) and Jan Koltze (Member of the Hamburg Parliament) on the legal and political framework conditions of delivery drivers and the business model, we want to consider together what can and must be done to ensure good work for food delivery drivers and other "clickworkers".
