ART X BODY POLITICS

How do social norms shape our view of bodies - and what possibilities are there to counter them? Artist Lio Kappel joins rapper Finna at ART X BODY POLITICS to talk about body images, queerness, visibility and resistant practices. With clear statements, humor and queer-feminist empowerment, Finna stands up against body shaming and homophobia. The rapper combines a political stance with musical expressiveness and stands up for sexual self-determination and social diversity.
The starting point for the conversation is the exhibition COCKTAIL PROLONGÉ: F.C. GUNDLACH SPECIAL. Between queerness, vulnerability, extravagance and non-conformity in society, the exhibition explores diverse stagings of physicality.
The ART X discussion series brings art and society into dialog - out of the ivory tower and into current discourse. Art educators and experts from various fields discuss pressing contemporary issues in the midst of the Deichtorhallen exhibitions and open up space for reflection, debate and new perspectives.
