1. ...reminds us of Christmas, of the place where Jesus was born, of the manger. At the manger, searching people (the shepherds) find the love of God in Jesus Christ. We also want to be such a place TODAY as the Bethlehem congregation. A place where searching, questioning people encounter the love of God through church services and encounters with people in the most diverse forms of church life.
2. ... also means "house of bread". Jesus was born in Bethlehem and later said of himself: "I am the bread of life".
   TODAY, as Bethlehem Church, we want to be a place where people are invited to find "Jesus as the bread of life": in the preaching of the Word of God and the reception of the Holy Sacraments (Baptism / Holy Communion).

The Evangelical Lutheran Bethlehem congregation in Bremen is one of many congregations in the IndependentEvangelical Lutheran Church(SELK) in Germany. (SELK) in Germany. The aim and center of all congregational work is the proclamation of the Gospel: faith in Jesus Christ alone saves from lostness and gives fellowship with God and eternal life. God's Word, i.e. the Bible, as attested to by the Lutheran confessional writings, is the basis and standard for all teaching and proclamation in the SELK. We value the sacraments as God's gift and a gift for us humans: Holy Baptism (for adults and likewise for children) and Holy Communion.

There are a variety of different groups and other activities in our parish. The focal point of church life is the Sunday service at 10.00 am. A new parish newsletter is published approximately every two months, providing up-to-date information on all church services and events.

As the Bethlehem congregation, we strive to ensure that everyone who has come to know God or would like to do so can experience security and love in our midst. That is why we have an open house and are happy to welcome guests who want to know whether there is something to the matter of God. We are happy to welcome anyone who simply wants to drop in. Therefore: Welcome!
