The following mission statement of the Martin Luther congregation was adopted by the convention in November 2001.

We are guided by Jesus Christ.

The Martin Luther congregation refers to Jesus Christ. In him, the love of God has become visible to us. He gives us strength and inner freedom. His open devotion to people should also determine our behavior.

We are committed to his message of love for our neighbor.

Jesus' message of human dignity and uniqueness gives us joy in life and serenity. Our faith calls us - as individuals and as a community - to love our neighbor.

We stand up for justice in the world.

Christian charity includes political action. Our faith commits us to openness, tolerance and respect for others. We seek ways of justice and peace in our district and in society. Economic success and power must not be the sole measure of all things.

We want to contribute to the preservation of nature.

We see nature as a gift from God. It is our duty to treat his creation responsibly. We oppose the thoughtless acceptance of everything that is technically feasible. We want to strengthen the reverence for life.

We are open to people.

The Martin Luther Parish sees it as its task to accompany, support and strengthen people in their independent faith and actions.

We offer space for encounters.

Faith is based on community.

Our church should be a place where people meet and new connections are made. We invite people to talk openly, to learn together, to celebrate and to worship.

We want to talk about faith.

Faith develops through dialog. There are different approaches to God: being personally moved can stand alongside doubt and searching. Faith and critical thinking are not contradictory. We invite discussion and cooperation.
