Wolfen-Nord once symbolized a new beginning for the future—in the 1960s, Wolfen-Nord was built as a prefabricated housing estate for the workers of the Wolfen Film Factory. In 1989, 35,000 people lived here; today, the population is just under 6,000. Hardly any other place in the East has experienced a more radical upheaval caused by population decline and outmigration than this neighborhood.

At the same time, we see significant potential right here: On the outskirts of the neighborhood lies Jugendclub 84, which was founded in 1984 and long served as a social gathering place. The association Wolfen Nord e.V., which operates the club, describes its local mission as follows: “Shaping the future where the past is the present,” and actively shapes the future by creating an environment of exchange and community.
