You start at Karlsplatz, one of the most beautiful squares in the Old Town with a direct view of the famous Heidelberg Castle. From here, the trail takes you up to the area around the castle: as you walk around the grounds, you will not only discover impressive walls and hidden details, but also the special atmosphere of this historic landmark that has towered over the city for centuries. A detour to the palace gardens is worthwhile - here, baroque garden art meets one of the best views over the Neckar.

The route then continues back down into the valley. It's up to you whether you walk down on foot or take the cable car - Heidelberg is a very flexible place to explore. The Old Town is full of winding alleyways, charming squares and, of course, the legendary Old Bridge, one of the city's most famous photo motifs. It has connected the Old Town with the other bank of the Neckar since the 18th century and offers a real postcard feeling.

While you question suspects and collect clues, you discover Heidelberg as if on an individual city tour - always passing by cozy cafés and restaurants, perfect for a short investigative break.
