About the Kulturkirche Altona
St. Johannis Altona is an Evangelical Lutheran parish church. As the Kulturkirche Altona, it has served as a rental space for all kinds of private and public events on days not used by the parish since 1998 - the first cultural church in Germany at the time .

In the meantime, the Kulturkirche Altona is no longer just a rental space for culture, but also organizes its own cultural programme and is a recognized promoter of art and culture in Hamburg. Its non-profit status is reflected not only in the diversity of its own program, with culture for young and old and from pop to classical music, but also in the ticket prices it charges. The enjoyment of music, literature, theater, film and cultural encounters should be accessible to everyone and not depend on the size of your wallet - this is the aim of the management.
