The non-profit association Kulturwerft e.V. is committed to the creation, preservation and communication of culture. It is open to anyone who wants to actively support these goals. Preserving cultural assets means passing on the appreciation of cultural heritage to the next generation. To this end, the importance of art, culture and art technology must be communicated in an understandable way. Culture and art are not seen as an end in themselves. Their significance for social processes and historical developments is an important focus.

Culture is created and cultural assets are restored at our Kultur-Werft, similar to the way a shipyard works. The name of the association also refers to the proximity of the building at Kaiserstraße 4 to the shipyard: the listed building opposite the Kiel shipyard was its former company health insurance fund. Today, it is home to the association's headquarters, the Kiel Restoration Center, the Ateliers am Werftpark and several other workshops. The Kulturwerft association brings together restorers, artists, art educators, art therapists, art historians and other interested parties to initiate creative processes and develop projects that make art, culture and history tangible through active action and active experience.

The purpose of the statutes is realized in particular through the implementation of:

• public lectures,
• scientific events and seminars on topics of conservation, restoration, restoration history, art and cultural history, monument preservation;
• Excursions and symposia on current restoration projects and exhibitions;
• Courses and demonstrations to introduce historical techniques and art technology,
• workshops on various artistic techniques,
• art courses,
• a permanent restoration exhibition
• contemporary publications on monument-related topics;
• individual and group exhibitions by artists
• art, cultural or school projects;
• artistic, creative and participative projects in the sense of monument education, adult education and youth work;
• Concept development for the presentation of the historical and current significance and development of the shipyards.
