Withering lilies, an unusual parcel store, a nightclub and much more - ten vacant kiosks at Munich subway stations are being filled with art.

The Art Kiosks project aims to revive the kiosks in Munich's subway stations, which have been vacant for some time, with art. The project also aims to attract passers-by and travelers who would otherwise not necessarily visit classic gallery and museum spaces.

In a city like Munich, where not only the rents for living space, but also for studios and exhibition spaces are no longer affordable, the project offers artists inspiring spaces for their artistic practice.

The artists:inside form the prelude: Peter Kees (Brudermühlstraße), Simone Egger and Christian Weiß (Hasenbergl), Martin Schmidt (Josephsplatz), Michael von Brentano (Josephsburg), Paula Leal Olloqui (Messestadt Ost), Regina Baierl (Michaelibad), Alexander Steig (Nordfriedhof Nord), Louisa Abdelkader (Quiddestraße), Ute Heim (Petuelring) and Emanuel Mooner (Schwanthalerhöhe).

The art installations can be viewed from the outside throughout. In addition, great free guided tours are always offered.

PLATFORM Munich and the BBK Munich and Upper Bavaria are jointly conceiving and realizing the Art Kiosks project. The patron of the project is the mayor of Munich, Katrin Habenschaden.

The project is supported by the Cultural Department and the Competence Team Cultural and Creative Industries of the City of Munich, SWM as well as by the program "Connecting Lines" of the BBK Bavaria from the funds of the Bavarian Ministry of Science and Art as well as by six Munich district committees (Maxvorstadt, Schwabing-Freimann, Schwabing-West, Sendling, Berg am Laim and Trudering-Riem).
