Located in the heart of Berlin, the Gropius Bau aims to be an open, lively place of exchange for a wide variety of people. A place where encounters and engagement with art and each other are possible. A place for play and participation, where all the senses - not just sight, but also touch, hearing, taste and feel - are equally important.

The pressing issues of our time find their place here and are dealt with artistically and speculatively from different perspectives. Major exhibitions of contemporary and modern art, as well as performative and interdisciplinary formats, are an integral part of the program. Artists are at the heart of everything: an extended Artist in Residence program invites artists to work in several studios on the second floor of the Gropius Bau - and to actively help shape the building from the inside.
