19th Munich Biennale for New Music Theater

31.5. - 10.6.2024

The Munich Biennale, the world's leading festival for contemporary music theater, returns at the end of May. Under the motto "On the Way", the Munich Biennale 2024 will explore the theme of movement from different perspectives:

People and societies are always on the move, traveling. Sometimes questioning, searching, groping, sometimes in pain, sometimes with euphoria and hope in their luggage. Whether on highways, one-way streets or dead ends, people are always on the move.

The "Munich Biennale for New Music Theater" is a world premiere festival that seeks and accompanies change and specifically explores contemporary forms of movement and change. The invited artists trace transformations in the world, in society, in the family and in the bodies and brains of individuals. Accordingly, the 2024 edition of the festival will focus on escape routes, shortcuts, dream destinations, persecution and change.
