The Musiktheater Piano is one of the most traditional concert venues in Dortmund and a real gem for music fans. The listed building at Lütgendortmunder Straße 43 looks back on more than 100 years of history: originally built in 1873 as the "Zum Deutschen Haus" inn with a classicist gable, it was extended in 1903 to include a large hall with a stage and balcony. From the outside, the building still looks like a typical inn - but there is much more hidden inside. The detailed Art Nouveau architecture of the foyer and concert hall is a rarity in Dortmund today and gives the Musiktheater Piano a unique flair.

Where fresh bread rolls once smelled, the atmosphere is now boiling with rock, jazz and blues concerts. After a period as a student hall of residence in the 1970s, the magnificent hall was awakened from its slumber and has been the focal point of the cultural scene again since 2008 as the Musiktheater Piano. You enter the hall, also known in Dortmund as "Das Piano", through a high entrance. The stage area is flooded with light and decorated with elegant wood paneling.
