Through climate and time

The Park Cave is an impressive underground tunnel system in the Park an der Ilm. In the front section, visitors can experience an exhibition on 200,000 years of earth and human history. It tells the story of the Park Cave: created in Goethe's time, unused for decades, converted into a shelter towards the end of the Second World War, it has been accessible again since 1997, interrupted by the pandemic and extensive renovation.

The tunnel was originally built at the end of the 18th century as a brewery.
