Since the mid-1990s, the Renaissance Theater's unique program concept has been devoted to international contemporary drama. The audience of our house, which J. W. Preuß - one of the most profound connoisseurs of the Berlin theater scene - called the "most sophisticated private stage in Germany", can expect a program that on the one hand deals with current social developments in a time-critical manner and on the other hand touches emotionally and calls for debate. Our productions attract strong attention far beyond the borders of Berlin, in some cases even beyond the borders of our country, from audiences, the media and especially from the playwrights who entrust us with their works. For internationally award-winning authors, such as John Logan, Tom Stoppard, Maria Goos, Michael Frayn, Moisés Kaufman or Doug Wright, whose works conquer the stages of the world from New York, London, Paris or Amsterdam, it has become almost a matter of course to offer the Renaissance Theater their works for the first performance in German. Here their plays are given the appreciation they deserve: Important actors, guided by a director who is committed to the work, perform in a setting that only the only completely preserved Art Deco theater in Europe can offer them.
