The Deutsches SchauSpielHaus in Hamburg is one of the most beautiful theater buildings in the German-speaking world and, with its 1,200 seats, it is the largest spoken theater. Located directly behind the main train station in the heart of St. Georg, the Deutsches SchauSpielHaus looks back on a history of over 120 years.

In 2013, Karin Beier, who comes from Cologne, was the first woman to take over as artistic director of the Deutsches SchauSpielHaus.

Alongside her, some of the most influential theater directors work at the house: Katie Mitchell, René Pollesch, Christoph Marthaler, Karin Henkel and Frank Castorf.
