With the opening of Speicher XI A in 2023, the Bremen University of the Arts has received a long-awaited, tailor-made extension in Überseestadt that will bring the fields of art, design and music even closer together. The building complex is located in the immediate vicinity of Speicher XI and catches the eye with its special architecture. The striking shed roofs blend in with the classic industrial and factory architecture of the port. Clearly visible in the urban space, it is also a protected place where teaching, artistic practice and artistic-scientific research engage in an interdisciplinary dialog.

With its outstanding technical infrastructure and exceptional architecture, the barrier-free Speicher XI A offers the best conditions for this exchange: The entire building is almost 100 meters long and covers an area of around 2,000 square meters. Two work halls with bright, individually divisible studios and large wall surfaces, workshops, storage and office space as well as a flexible event and exhibition hall with space for around 400 seats make Speicher XI A a new place for artistic debate - in studies and teaching as well as with the public: exhibitions, lectures, media installations and performances take place here as well as concerts and opera performances.
