In the reading room of the Munich State Archives, users can now also take digital photographs of archive records themselves. This requires the signing of a corresponding declaration and compliance with the rules laid down therein. For legal and conservation reasons, the following are not permitted
- Archival records dating back less than 100 years (exception: land tax registers may be photographed without time restrictions)
- Archival records of which digital copies already exist
- Official records and bound files that cannot be opened to 120° without difficulty
- Archival records with previous mechanical damage
- Archival records with oversize (larger than the usable table surface)
