The Sudeten German Museum is the central museum of the German-speaking population in the historical lands of Bohemia, Moravia and Sudeten Silesia, today's Czech Republic. For centuries, the coexistence of Germans, Czechs and Jews shaped the culture of this region in the heart of Europe.

The museum building was erected in the immediate vicinity of the Sudeten German House in the center of Munich near the Gasteig. It is sponsored by the Sudeten German Foundation. Under the patronage of the Free State of Bavaria, the foundation stone was laid on September 16, 2016 and the museum opened on October 12, 2020.

Between 2016 and 2020, a team of scientists, designers and media planners developed the permanent exhibition. It uses authentic objects and modern media technology to explain the history of the country, art and culture.

With its bright sandstone façade, the extraordinary new museum building by architectural firm pmp architekten sets a striking accent on the high banks of the Isar.
