The Fraunhofer pub and theater in Munich

The Fraunhofer is a place for Bavarian lifestyle in wonderful historical premises, with an eventful history in Munich's Isar suburb. Since its foundation, the pub and theater has been a place for discussion over beer and smoke. It became a place for political cabaret, contemporary folk music and fine Bavarian cuisine. Since 2010, the Herzkasperlzelt has been a flagship of the Wirtshaus im Fraunhofer and contributes to the transformation of the world's largest folk festival with its program. The Fraunhofer Wirtshaus und Theater building is also home to the Werkstattkino. The cinema, which is located in the former bowling alley and is run by Cineast:innen, is one of the most important underground/independent cinemas in Germany.
