Faraway continents have always fascinated travelers and those who stayed at home. Already 100 years ago, the Übersee-Museum presented "The world under one roof" and continues to set standards today with its modern forms of presentation.

The Übersee-Museum combines the unique European collections of ethnology, trade and natural history into a unified experience. Here you can immerse yourself in distant continents and discover their fascinating cultural and natural environments with unique exhibits from all over the world, masterful animal dioramas and real plants. Stations invite you to try things out again and again - a museum experience for young and old and for all the senses! Large special exhibitions during the winter months explore the museum's themes in greater depth. Our extensive accompanying program offers meeting points and in-depth information for the various interests of our visitors.

The Übersee-Museum has been nominated several times for the European Museum Prize and was named a "Selected Landmark in the Land of Ideas 2010". The permanent exhibition "Experience what moves the world" was honored by the German UNESCO Commission as a project of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.
