dokumentarfilmwoche hamburg is the only festival in the Hamburg region that specializes entirely in documentary film and is a meeting place for people interested in documentary film as well as a platform for the local film culture. The festival sees itself as a forum for documentary films that are demanding in terms of form and content: for films that do not merely strive to clarify content with their critical approach, but rather find artistic forms that question the inscribed codes and explore the potential space of the documentary in aesthetic and political terms.

A wide range of productions will be shown, ranging from experimental documentaries made without the participation of broadcasters or funding to outstanding international co-productions. The program provides insights into the diverse work of the regional, German and international scene. In addition to showing documentary films, talking about them is an essential part of the festival. Filmmakers are present at every event.

Die 21. dokumentarfilmwoche findet vom 23. bis 28. April statt. Festival-Kinos sind das Metropolis, B-Movie, 3001 Kino, Lichtmess und fux-Lichtspiele. Das Festivalzentrum befindet sich in der fux eg in Altona.
