Cine k surprises with films that would otherwise not be shown in Oldenburg: We show films that are outside the mainstream and go beyond the familiar narrative patterns of commercial productions. We also show many films in the original language with subtitles. Short films, documentaries and film classics round off our program, for which we regularly receive awards.

We are also active beyond our cinema: in the summer, we play in the square behind the Kulturetage with our "Summer Cinema" and make the cinema program for the Oldenburg Kultursommer.

Cinema as a place of encounter

Cinema at Cine k is more than just showing movies. We want to get people talking and therefore offer - often in cooperation with Oldenburg actors - discussion rounds, director talks as well as thematic film series and film festivals (including the annual Queer Film Festival).
We want to make cinema and film accessible and encourage reflection: That's why there is a short introduction by our team before many films in the movie theater.
