The 49th competition for the Fritz Worttelmann Prize of the City of Bochum offers a wide variety of puppet theater - free of charge, for everyone! 18 productions with marionettes, hand puppets, objects, shadow plays or talking vegetables offer a varied program.

100 participants from all over Germany will be competing in Bochum for the city's oldest cultural award. There are three categories: Young Professionals, Adult Amateurs and Youth Clubs & School Theater.

The winners will be announced by the juries at the awards ceremony on September 21. The prize for youth clubs & school theater and amateurs is endowed with 4,000 euros each. The professional young talents can look forward to an honored performance at the international festival FIDENA 2026 and the FRITZ trophy.

Every two years, Fidena awards the Fritz Wortelmann Prize on behalf of the city of Bochum, named after its initiator, who launched the competition in 1959.
