The Gesellschaft für zeitgenössische Musik e.V. (GZM) is the only municipal cultural event organizer that presents cross-border musical areas of contemporary music: Contemporary Composed Music, Contemporary Jazz and Improvised Music.

For more than 35 years, the GZM has made it its mission to create a platform in Aachen that repeatedly breaks through musical boundaries and makes "the new" audible. The GZM can look back on concerts by national and international stars and constantly enriches the cultural program of the city region. The GZM's concert program provides an up-to-date impression of contemporary musical processes.

Thanks to its close networking within Aachen, the GZM is increasingly breaking through disciplinary boundaries in cooperation with other art and cultural institutions (e.g. Ludwig Forum, Theater K). In this way, the GZM would also like to expand the interdisciplinary network in the city region.

In addition to concerts, the GZM focuses on lectures, discussion forums, workshops and music education work. An important objective here is the promotion of young musical talent by engaging soloists and ensembles from outside and within the Aachen region. GZM has also established the independent music school music loft from the very beginning.
