Every year, the Hamburg Theater Festival brings the most talked-about plays in the German-speaking world to Hamburg. Inspiring, long-reverberating theater experiences from Vienna, Zurich, Munich, Berlin and other places are then hosted at the Hamburg venues Schauspielhaus, Thalia Theater, Kampnagel and St. Pauli Theater. The festival receives no public funding and has been financed since its inception by donations, sponsorship and income from ticket sales.
