KETAAKETI is a unique and award-winning model of development cooperation that has been having a positive impact in the countries of the Global South since 2007. The model has received several awards, including from UNESCO and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. KETAAKETI relies on the strength of local actors and supports independent, country-owned NGOs that act independently and sustainably on the ground.

The special thing about KETAAKETI is the principle of self-determination and personal responsibility: the local organizations grant interest-free microloans to the economically poorest families in the respective regions. This gives them the opportunity to set up their own small businesses and at the same time ensure their children's education. The aim is to overcome poverty in a self-determined and long-term manner and to create a better future through education.

An outstanding feature of the model is the "pass-on principle". As soon as a family is successful with the help of KETAAKETI microfinance and is able to repay the loan, the money is passed on directly to the next group. This creates a sustainable cycle that continues to grow without additional support from Germany - from village to village and from generation to generation.

With KETAAKETI, not only the direct beneficiaries benefit, but also their communities, which are strengthened by this solidarity-based network of responsibility and cooperation. The model thus makes an important contribution to a future worth living - for everyone, everywhere.
