A collective is far more than the sum of its parts. Jazz collectives combine pragmatic benefits with the innovative idea of an equal production process and openness to diverse ideas and ways of realizing them.

For KLAENG this means

• making administrative activities beyond the core business of the music profession more efficient through a well-structured division of labor,
• strengthening personal networks with musicians, event organizers and cultural authorities in a more stable collective network,
• to be approachable as a pool of musicians for outsiders,
• to achieve a greater ripple effect in the cooperation
• to create platforms for new musical and aesthetic ideas as well as innovative event and mediation concepts.

The most visible results of the collective's artistic work are the annual KLAENG festivals and the one-day open-air festival SummerKLAENG, a concert series in Cologne's Stadtgarten KLAENG, the series and, since 2014, its own label KLAENGrecords. In addition to its curatorial work, KLAENG is committed to the political interests of its own profession, the promotion of young talent and, last but not least, good cooperation in the local and regional scene.
