PROVIEH is Germany's most experienced animal welfare organization for "farm animals". We have been campaigning for species-appropriate animal husbandry and against industrial intensive animal husbandry in agriculture since 1973. PROVIEH works scientifically and objectively. The most important thing for us is the understanding of farm animals as intelligent and sentient creatures with species-specific needs and behaviors. PROVIEH is therefore committed to species-appropriate and respectful animal husbandry that is geared towards the needs of farm animals instead of treating them as mere production units.

Our work unites people who eat vegan or vegetarian food and people who consume meat. We are the interface between consumers, food retailers, politicians and farmers.
