The "side.kicks" format has existed since 2013 and presents works by choreographers from the national and international networks of Tanztendenz München e.V. at schwere reiter.

"side.kicks" does not see itself as a pure guest performance format, but is usually the culmination of a longer, collaborative process. Productions and artists are invited who are connected to Tanztendenz München e.V. through their institutional sponsors and partners or who have previously been guests in residence at the association.

"side.kicks" is a lean and flexible format that considers and seeks to support diversity on many levels.
The aim is to maintain the visibility of diverse artistic styles, organizational forms, financing models, concerns and strategies, to present them in an exemplary manner and to provide inspiration. In this way, the format provides the Munich dance scene with contacts to artists from abroad and gives the public in the state capital an insight into works that are otherwise not on show in the city.
