Forest education center in the Königsforst

As one of four visitor portals, the Steinhaus visitor center is an important gateway to the Wahner Heide and Königsforst. The former forester's lodge with its interesting history was opened to the public in June 2011.

Since 2020, the Steinhaus has been certified as an extracurricular place of learning for "Education for Sustainable Development" (ESD). Certification was successfully renewed in 2024. Against this background, the Steinhaus is a forest education center with tailor-made offers from kindergarten to adult education.

Every year, around 8,000 - 10,000 visitors visit the Steinhaus, take part in the forest education activities or visit the permanent exhibition on the topic of "Forest as a Resource" and the Königsforst or the forest café.
