ensemble50 - expanding perspectives in classical music

"ensemble50" stands for the vision of equal representation of female composers in the classical concert business. The name refers to the "other half" of society: around 50% of the world's population are women - but their music is still much less present in the classical repertoire and in public perception.

Essentially a piano trio, the ensemble's flexible line-up is dedicated to works by women composers from the past and present, placing them in new contexts and bringing their soundscapes to the stage. Excellent chamber music, musical joy of playing and programmatic curiosity turn each of its concerts into a journey of discovery that offers a different perspective on music history - and allows a diversity to be heard that has hardly been noticed for a long time.
