Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade is a showpiece for orchestra. The symphonic poem reflects the conflict between the furious Sultan and Shahrazade, who tames him with stories from "One Thousand and One Nights". The Klang Ensemble Köln brings the dramatic work op. 35 to the stage under Nicolai Bernstein, framed by a story by Cologne author Tilman Strasser, which transports Shahrasad's narrative art to the present day. And pulls out all the stops of the original: Adventurous storylines, daring connections and nasty cliffhangers.
