Black Metal is a big topic, especially in Norway, and fortunately not only because of various church fires and other crimes, but also in the everyday press. One of the internationally renowned bands from Oslo came together in 1997 under the banner 1349. To be more precise, the Oslo band actually emerged from Alvheim, in which both frontman Ravn (who was also responsible for the drums at the time) and the two guitarists André 'Tjalve' Kvebek and Lars 'Balfori' Larsen as well as bassist Tor Risdal 'Seidemann' Stavenes were active. The corpse paint is just as important to the guys as the pseudonyms, and they chose the year as the band name because that was the year the Black Plague broke out in Norway and wiped out two thirds of the population.

KAMPFAR

When Dolk left his old band Mock, he felt the need for more vowels. However, there were probably other reasons why he and guitarist Thomas founded Kampfar in Fredrikstad in 1994. Dolk's musical past clearly lies in black metal, whereas Thomas has a background in classical folk music. These influences characterize their music. Kampfar presented their style for the first time with a self-titled EP released in 1996 on Season Of Mist. Just three quarters of a year later, they released their official debut "Mellom Skogledde Aaser", on which Thomas' folk background came more to the fore.

AFSKY

The package is rounded off by the Danish Afsky around Ole Luk, who present sophisticated black metal with depth.
