Together with the European Guitar Teachers Association in Germany (EGTA-D), the Monheim Kulturwerke will organize the 2026 competition. Up to 70 young people from all over the world are expected to take part from June 3 to 6 .
In Monheim am Rhein, the young guitarists will compete in the three age groups of under-14s, 14 to 16s and 17 to 19s. The ten judges will not only be looking for technical skill, but also for expression and artistic personality.

The winners will receive 15 cash prizes worth 9,000 euros, a master guitar from master guitar maker Ernst Dering worth around 6,000 euros, concerts and scholarships at prestigious international festivals as well as other valuable non-cash prizes.

The competitions are open to the public. Free admission to the three venues. Admission is possible every 15 minutes between the participants' performances.
