This year, around 15 venues are inviting you to the 16th SuedKultur MusicNight in Hamburg-Süd. Our sponsor, the Eisenbahnbauverein Harburg eG, is supporting the entire event in Harburg, making it possible in the first place. Thank you!

What makes this event special: one price, all venues, and nearly 30 acts. There is no advance ticket sales; when you pay the admission fee at any one venue, you’ll receive a wristband that grants you access to all locations.

We’re using this special day as an opportunity to host a small side festival, starting at 6 p.m., and we’ve been able to book local, national, and international acts for the event.

Anemone (NL) - Psychedelic Rock

Anemone is a Dutch psychedelic rock quartet characterized by emotion, volume, and unpredictability. Their sound ranges from dreamy introspection to raw, unfiltered intensity—with psychedelic guitar tones, layered melodies, and earthy rhythms creating songs that feel both intimate and expansive. Anemone doesn’t rely on nostalgia, yet their music conveys the rawness and honesty of ’90s alternative rock, filtered through a modern psychedelic lens.

At the heart of the band is singer and guitarist Xander van Dijck, whose expressive vocals and melodic guitar lines define Anemone’s emotional direction. Davy Knobel breaks with convention by playing guitar and bass simultaneously, creating a dense, hypnotic foundation that blurs the lines between rhythm and lead instruments. On drums, Joost van Oeveren provides the necessary stability with his dynamic, intuitive playing, while Joris Zomerdijk adds extra texture and attitude on acoustic guitar and with backing vocals, expanding the band’s sonic palette.

The band has already performed at festivals such as Vestrock, Motel Mozaique, Breda Barst, Big Rivers, and others. They’ve also shared the stage with acts like The Animals, Antimatter, The Third Sound, Triggerfinger, Hallo Venray, Telescopes, Film School, and Hausmagger.

ASTEROID KANE is a starry-night drive down the highway of handmade indie rock, somewhere between classic ’90s alternative, atmospheric Americana, noisy folk, and high-energy post-punk. A breakneck journey drawing on influences as diverse as Fontaines D.C., Hüsker Dü, The Pixies, The Notwist, Radiohead, and Placebo, all the way to Wilco, Giant Sand, and Lee Hazlewood.

Founded in 2018, the band released their debut EP, *An Asteroid Called Kane* (Recordjet), in 2020. Asteroid Kane is currently promoting their second EP, *Marigold* (Recordjet), released in 2022, produced by Michael Haves (Super 700) and mastered by none other than the legendary Andi “Dog” Jung (Beatsteaks, Seeed, KIZ, Bela B., Fehlfarben, Acht Eimer Hühnerherzen, and others).

The Paintbox - Stoner Rock

Malte & Connor have been performing together as The Paintbox since 2012. As a duo, they work with a minimalist setup—guitar, drums, vocals—and use it to create a sound that relies less on excess and more on attitude and intention. Their music oscillates between rawness and atmosphere, earthy yet electrifying. The Paintbox’s sound is firmly rooted in physical spaces—in places that bear traces of the past. Distortion, repetition, and restraint coalesce into a dense, tension-filled texture that creates both weight and a sense of pull.

In 2014, the band released their first EP, “Crows,” produced entirely on their own—dark, direct, and stripped down to the essentials. This was followed in 2017 by their debut album, “Spirit,” which expanded their sonic language without losing its sparse, driving core. After a lengthy hiatus, The Paintbox returned in 2026. With newfound clarity and experience, they created new material that is more deliberately conceived and places greater emphasis on structure and impact. The darkness remains—but their vision is sharper.
