Kesselhaus in the KulturbrauereiLOTUS FLOWER TRIO
BRUNO ANGELINI
FR+DE
The lotus flower, which grows in Asia and Australia, shows that beauty can also emerge in a swamp. A strangely fitting allegory for our current troubled, disturbed world. The compositions of Bruno Angelini's new repertoire are a tribute to the "lotus flowers" of our history, such as Wayne Shorter, Jane Addams, Berta Cacerès or Nelson Mandela, who in their own way stood up for the common good. The core of the pieces is formed by verve-rich melodies, which the pianist and the two saxophonists Sakina Abdou and Angelika Niescier interpret with raw lyricism and a great deal of freedom.

LA MAIN
GILLES CORONADO
FR
For his latest project, guitarist Gilles Coronado has teamed up with Olivier Laisney and Christophe Lavergne: the result is a sound whose lightness contrasts with the power of a rock band. For the Berlin concert, the Frenchman is expanding his trio to include the musicians Sarah Murcia and Catherine Delaunay. Nothing is fixed in this new constellation; each performer shifts the musical mosaic pieces like geometric variables. In this way, the music is turned upside down and its original core is varied to allow the simplicity of the first listening impression to coexist with a hidden complexity.
