Global crises, geopolitical tensions and recurring supply chain disruptions have brought one question to the forefront of economic policy debates: how resilient is Germany as a business location - and what does its stability depend on? The discussion about dependencies on individual countries, suppliers and sales markets no longer just concerns specialists, but key future issues of growth, prosperity and security.
This is particularly evident in the supply of raw materials, the strong export orientation of individual sectors, critical infrastructure and security-relevant goods. This is not about isolationism, but about the question of which dependencies are economically sensible, politically justifiable and strategically risky.
Current international developments show how dependent we actually are on certain countries, markets and suppliers and where real vulnerabilities lie.
So where are the possibilities and limits of state control: how much strategic autonomy is realistic, financially viable and economically prudent? What role do diversification, European cooperation and technological innovation play? And what does all of this mean in concrete terms for industry, SMEs, employees and Germany as a business location in the coming years?
These and other questions will be discussed:
Matthias Ecke, Member of the European Parliament
Anja Hähle-Posselt, Head of the Office for Economic Development, Leipzig
Prof. Dr. Uwe Cantner, Professor of Economics at the University of Jena
Moderation:
Wolfgang Brinkschulte, journalist and communications consultant, Leipzig
We look forward to your participation and your questions!
