20 Jahre Sax Royal Geburtstagsgala

It's going to be a real party: Dresden's Sax Royal reading stage is celebrating its 20th birthday on January 29! Since 2005, the royalists have been presenting a brand new program of stories, poems and songs ranging from the profound to the highly comical every month. Their home has always been the scheune, but they are currently reading at the Groove Station. For a special occasion, they are moving to the Schauburg for an evening and presenting a colorful birthday gala. The current members Michael Bittner, Roman Israel, Max Rademann and Gesine Schäfer will of course be there. To celebrate the day, two former members will also be returning to the reading stage:

Julius Fischer and Stefan Seyfarth! Fans of the Lesebühne can look forward to some of the best and funniest texts and songs from the past 20 years, as well as surprise guests, shocking footage, cinematic greetings and lots of other fun. Those who know the Sax Royal reading stage should not miss this anniversary - those who don't know it yet will find no better opportunity to learn to love it.

Michael Bittner is a freelance author living in Berlin. He writes literary, satirical and political pieces for publications including taz, ND, Jungle World and konkret. He not only reads every month at Sax Royal, but also at the Berlin reading stage Prunk & Prosa and at the Görlitzer Kantinenlesen. He has published several books, and his new volume "Deutsche im Wind" with selected stories and satires will soon be published by Satyr Verlag.

Roman Israel lives as a freelance writer in Leipzig and writes novels, poetry and screenplays. He is a founding member of the Sax Royal reading theater.
He has received numerous scholarships for his work. The film "Fifty-fifty", based on his script, won the audience award at the Dresden Schmalfilmtage in 2020. He has published numerous books, most recently his novel "Ein Jahr unter Eulen" was published by Überland Verlag in 2024.

Max Rademann lives in Dresden and works as an author, illustrator and musician. He is a regular author at the Sax Royal reading stage. He has hosted the musical Tuesday Salon at the European Center for the Arts in Hellerau for many years. Together with Falk Töpfer, he plays in the band "The Equipment". He has published several books, as well as music albums and cartoons.

Gesine Schäfer works as a biologist and author in Dresden. She has been delighting audiences in Dresden and elsewhere with her quirky and funny stories and poems for several years. She has been a regular author at the Sax Royal reading stage since September 2023.

Julius Fischer is a writer, musician and comedian. He lives in Leipzig. Together with Christian Meier, he forms the band The Fuck Hornisschen Orchestra, and together with André Herrmann he has won the German-language poetry slam championships several times. He has appeared on television in comedy shows with Olaf Schubert and Sarah Bosetti, among others. He is currently on tour with his solo program "Fischer for Compliments".

Stefan Seyfarth is a trained forestry scientist, committed educator and passionate poet. He currently works in a kindergarten near Büchen. At the same time, he continues to write stories and poems inspired by rap as well as the Saxon school of poetry. His latest book "Dreck auf Schnee" was published in 2019.
